I served aboard the USS Whitfield County LST- 1169 at a place called Vung Tau, South Vietnam and was transferred to the USS Iwo Jima LPH-2 for a couple of 9 month tours. We spent some time in Da Nang, South Vietnam. Just one of thousands that were doing their job. I hope somebody’s life benefitted from the effort.
I was serving on board the USS Iwo Jima when it recovered the space craft from Apollo 13.
