The award-winning Texas Vietnam Heroes Exhibit display of 3,417 personalized dog tags honoring Texans killed or missing in Vietnam was presented to its permanent home at the Museum of the American GI in College Station on February 28, 2015. Accompanied and delivered by the Patriot Guard Riders who have escorted the exhibit on its nearly 3,000 mile tour, the memorial to Texans killed and missing in Vietnam was presented by Texas Capitol Vietnam Veteran Monument executive committee members John Miterko and Don Dorsey.
The exhibit will be temporarily displayed, then stored while the museum builds its permanent display space which will open May 2, 2015.
The Texas Vietnam Heroes Exhibit is an extension of the Texas Capitol Vietnam Veterans Monument located on the northeast grounds of the State Capitol. A duplicate set of the tags displayed in the exhibit is entombed inside the monument, which honors all Texans who served in the Vietnam War.
